Form - of FROM VILLAGES TO EDO-old day' s skills in today' s world- - new industrial arts

In Japan, there were the times when all life articles were made in Japan once. Those most were industrial art objects produced at local production center. If there are many things which died out with change of the current of the times, there is the skill that is still inherited.

We still sense daring attempt and evolution to the times when people inheriting local industrial arts are new bodily through demonstration experience, and we discover new industrial form, and, in this exhibition, there may be.

Just like other countries, once there was the time that all Japanese living supplies were made inside Japan and the majority of them were made by specified craftsmen in countryside.  Some craftsmen and skills have been perished, but some are still inherited.

Through this exhibition, you may meet with some provincial craftsmen and might find their struggles and challenges for the present era.
