As for the Kagawa Shikki, Zokoku Tamakaji studied Laquer Ware technique that "*hishio" (kimma) was transmitted through "*sei" (zonsei) from Thailand and Chugoku late in the Edo era and began because we added technique of our country ancient times to them and brought about new technique.
We inherit the technique, and a lot of Laquer Ware with characteristic is produced now around Takamatsu-shi of Kagawa,
We call them "Kagawa Shikki" collectively.
Tatami-room table and cabinet, tray, saucer for a teacup, cake bowl are the best among the whole country by being rich in kind.
"*hishio" (kimma) which is representative technique "Goto coat" (apply father) "*sei" (zonsei),

It is the course of nature that oneself inherited business
(Q) At first please tell opportunity when you were going to get this occupation.
It is the first reason that father was Master of Traditional Crafts of Kagawa Shikki. I am the second son of four brothers, but all the brothers except me are doing office worker having nothing to do with industrial arts person really.
(Q) Is that so? Did it have any special reason that Teruaki who was the second son inherited business not the eldest son?
No, with there not being reason in particular, but having been which oneself was skillful with among brothers from old days,
We think that it was the course of nature that oneself inherited business because we liked manufacturing since it was small.
(Q)Is that right? Then Kagawa Shikki had five kinds of technique of the difficult name, and amateur like me was hard to know (laugh) and watched if Watanabe was good at "Goto coat" in that. Please tell the reason.
Well. This does not have reason particularly either, but is flow that I succeeded necessarily as technique that father who is Master of Traditional Crafts was good at was "Goto coat".
We add technique of "*sei" more and only make original work while succeeding to technique of "Goto coat" of father in the case of me.
(Q)Oh? ・* * That means?
Thing making by production demonstration is right thing called "grind, *seitenhori ri of Goto coating" now,
We are making point carving of *sei on Goto coating.
Briefly, point carves outline of flower with tool such as this mechanical pencil and comes,
We finally polish gold dust with lacquer which we mixed and bury gold dust in outline part.
